Gohira
Acacia leucophloea
📖 About this plant
Acacia leucophloea (syn. Vachellia leucophloea — white-barked acacia or ‘Gohira’ in Odia, also called Reonja) is a medium deciduous tree of the Mimosaceae family. The tree has distinctive white bark (hence ‘leucophloea’ meaning white bark) and bears bipinnate leaves with thorns. Wood is hard and used for agricultural implements and fuelwood. Bark yields tannin and is used in traditional medicine for digestive complaints. The tree fixes nitrogen and is used in agroforestry.
