📖 About this plant
Caryota urens (toddy palm or ‘Salap’ in Odia, also called Fish-tail palm) is a large solitary palm of the Arecaceae family. The palm produces fish-tail-shaped bipinnate leaves and large pendulous inflorescences. Inflorescences are tapped to produce toddy (palm wine) and jaggery. Wood is used for construction.
