Cassia siamea
📖 About this plant
Cassia siamea (syn. Senna siamea — ‘Chakunda’ in Odia, also called Siamese senna or kassod tree) is a fast-growing evergreen tree of the Caesalpiniaceae family. The tree bears profuse yellow flowers in terminal panicles through much of the year, making it a popular avenue tree. Wood is hard and durable (used for furniture, cabinets, and turnery). Leaves are used as green manure. The tree fixes nitrogen and is extensively planted in agroforestry and for avenue planting.
