Ghurudu
Gardenia gummifera
📖 About this plant
Gardenia gummifera (also called ‘Ghurudu’ or ‘Kuruda’ in Odia) is a small deciduous tree of the Rubiaceae family. The tree bears glossy dark green leaves and white fragrant flowers that turn yellow with age — typical Gardenia characteristic. The tree exudes a gum from the bark (hence ‘gummifera’). Fruits are used in traditional medicine for digestive complaints. Wood is used for agricultural implements.
