Lajwanti
Mimosa pudica
📖 About this plant
Mimosa pudica (sensitive plant or ‘Lajwanti’/’Lajkulilata’ in Odia, also called Chui-mui) is a creeping herb of the Mimosaceae family. The plant’s leaves fold inward and droop when touched (hence ‘sensitive plant’ and ‘lajwanti’ meaning shy). Leaves are used in Ayurvedic medicine for skin diseases, hair loss, and as a styptic. The plant is naturally found as a weed in fallow lands.
