Mondo Grass
Ophiopogon japonicus
📖 About this plant
A dense, low-growing, evergreen groundcover forming lush tufts of narrow, dark green, grass-like leaves. In summer it produces small, lilac-white flowers hidden among the foliage, followed by metallic-blue berries. Extremely popular as a lawn substitute, between stepping stones, as border edging, and in Japanese-style gardens. Remarkably tough — tolerates shade, foot traffic, drought, and coastal conditions.
