Phragmipedium
Phragmipedium spp. (South American Slipper orchids)
📖 About this plant
The New World cousins of Paphiopedilum, these ‘slipper orchids’ produce striking, pouch-shaped flowers in extraordinary colors including vivid greens, reds, pinks, and yellows — some species like P. kovachii are among the most spectacular orchids ever discovered. Unlike most orchids, many Phragmipedium species prefer consistently moist roots and some can even tolerate shallow trays of water. Their long-lasting, sequential blooms and dramatic colors make them highly sought-after by collectors.

Fine-grade orchid bark with sphagnum moss, perlite, and a touch of loam or sand; semi-terrestrial mix; many species tolerate wetter conditions than other orchids
