🌿Pothos Snow Queen

Pothos Snow Queen

Epipremnum aureum 'Snow Queen'

Indoor Plants Difficulty: Easy Air purifying

📖 About this plant

Pothos Snow Queen is the heavily white-variegated sister of Marble Queen, with leaves that are predominantly white (often 80% or more) with just hints of green along the edges and in marbled patterns. The effect is breathtaking — cascading vines appear almost frosted with snow, creating a luminous, ethereal display. Because the white areas lack chlorophyll, this variety grows more slowly and needs more light than green pothos, but the dramatic appearance makes it absolutely worth the extra attention. It’s one of the most photogenic houseplants available.

🛡️ Health & Safety

⚠️ Not pet safe ☠️ Toxic

Toxic to cats and dogs — calcium oxalate crystals cause oral irritation, drooling, and vomiting

Common issues

  • Very prone to reverting to green in low light
  • extremely slow growth
  • white leaf portions easily scorched by direct sun
  • crispy leaf tips from low humidity
  • root rot from overwatering
  • new growth may be greener than parent plant

💡 Care tips

  1. This variety demands more light than other pothos — provide bright indirect light for at least 8 hours daily to maintain heavy white variegation.
  2. Avoid direct sunlight completely as the white portions burn easily.
  3. Growth is slow — be patient and avoid the temptation to over-fertilize.
  4. Propagate the most white-variegated stems to maintain the Snow Queen look.
  5. Pair with a self-watering pot to prevent drying out.
