Stenocactus Coptonogonus
Stenocactus coptonogonus
📖 About this plant
Stenocactus coptonogonus, commonly known as the Snowflake Cactus or Old Man Cactus, is a mesmerizing small cactus prized for its extraordinary ribbing pattern. The spherical body is covered in dozens of extremely fine, closely spaced vertical ribs with dense, hair-like white spines along each ridge, creating a delicate snowflake or feather-like pattern when viewed from above. The intricate geometric pattern is one of the most beautiful in the entire cactus family. Despite its delicate appearance, it’s a tough little plant from the Mexican highlands. The pink to lavender flowers appear in spring, contrasting beautifully with the white spines. It’s a collector’s gem that rewards patient observation with ever-changing shadow patterns across its sculptural surface.
