📖 About this plant
Lumnitzera racemosa (black mangrove or ‘Churunda’ in Odia, also called ‘Tunda’) is a small mangrove tree of the Combretaceae family. The tree bears succulent leaves that excrete salt through special glands, and produces pneumatophores for gas exchange in waterlogged mangrove mud. Wood is hard and used for charcoal and small construction. Bark yields tannin.
